My Letter to U.S. Congressman Trey Gowdy regarding SOPA/PIPA
on January 20th, 2012 at 1:49 pm“Your response to my message about these was quite disappointing. You ran on change, honesty, etc. You won and how how are you doing things differently?
I want to know your position. You skated around giving an answer. That sounds an awful lot like the person whom you replaced.
The problem as those of us who are tech savvy see it is the same as what just happened with some other sites. No due process. Government can shut down websites who don’t even know they are linking to pirated material. It’s also far too easy for government to take down opposition political sites. It happens all the time all over the world. The difference here is the rule of law which keeps government in check. Once the law changes, there’s no going back. Our rights are being lost at a record pace in the name of, in this case, money for the MPAA and RIAA mostly.
Stand up for what’s right for the people. In this case it’s also what is popular with the people. That in itself should be enough to make you want to do it. Voters are watching today more than ever.
I’m also posting this letter on my blog, justalkin.us, as well as your response. Thank you.”
