This is a great article on using OpenDNS.  I’ve been using it for over a year now and it’s great.  I started using it when my ISP (Charter) started becoming slow to respond when I would try to follow a link to a website.  Sometimes it would time out completely and I would have to hit the Try again button on Firefox (you are using Firefox or Opera, aren’t you?).  It was a DNS issue at Charter.  I’ve had all of my computers plus my router set up to use it since then and I’ve had zero problems.

SIMPSONVILLE, S.C. — Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office said a report of an attempted kidnapping on Sunday night in a Simpsonville subdivision is false.

Investigators said that the 13-year-old girl confessed, in front of her parents and investigators, Monday night that she made the story up.The girl reported that she was grabbed by a man while she was walking a neighbor’s dog around a pond at the Adams Run subdivision.According to an incident report, the girl told deputies that the man was wearing all-black clothing, a black mask and black gloves.The girl told investigators that after the man grabbed her, the dog bit the man on the arm and he fled in a white box-type van.The sheriff’s office said that there is no indication right now as to why the girl made up the story.She could face charges of filing a false police report.

Greenville County may shut down businesses that knowingly hire illegal immigrants under an ordinance adopted by County Council on Tuesday night.

It’s about time that local governments began forcing small businesses to follow the rules.  Now if only the state would do the same there wouldn’t be a market for illegal workers and they would stop coming.

So having armed guards prevented this ship from being hijacked, but it’s a bad idea because it might make the pirates mad.  Only in a liberal mind could defending yourself and your interests be seen as a bad thing.  Just think of the poor pirates.  You could have killed some of them.

So goes the old argument that if you arm citizens they are more of a threat and more at danger.  Never mind the fact that statistics prove otherwise.

Oklahoma County District Attorney David Prater said in an afternoon news conference that Ersland was justified in shooting Antwun Parker once in the head on May 19. But Prater said Ersland went too far when he shot Parker five more times in the abdomen while Parker lay unconscious on the floor.

So it’s OK to debrain the bastard through lead poisoning, but wasting ammo on him after that is a crime.  I get it.

A poll watcher who provided an affidavit to prosecutors in the case noted that Bartle Bull, who worked as a civil rights lawyer in the south in the 1960′s and is a former campaign manager for Robert Kennedy, said it was the most blatant form of voter intimidation he had ever seen.

In his affidavit, obtained by FOX News, Bull wrote “I watched the two uniformed men confront voters and attempt to intimidate voters. They were positioned in a location that forced every voter to pass in close proximity to them. The weapon was openly displayed and brandished in plain sight of voters.”

He also said they tried to “interfere with the work of other poll observers … whom the uniformed men apparently believed did not share their preferences politically,” noting that one of the panthers turned toward the white poll observers and said “you are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker.”

Yet the department of justice dismissed the charges.  Welcome to the new world that you asked for!

(CNN) — The government is delaying legal action against Pennsylvania landowners who haven’t yet agreed to sell their land for a memorial to victims of United Airlines Flight 93 on September 11, 2001, federal officials said Friday.

The government has been negotiating with several landowners since 2003 in an effort to purchase their properties near Shanksville where the hijacked jet crashed into a field, killing everyone aboard.

If final efforts at negotiations are unsuccessful, officials intend to use eminent domain to acquire the property. That right allows governments to take private property for public use without an owner’s consent, after paying a fair price for the land.

The government is seeking to buy 166 acres in western Pennsylvania to complete the area needed to build a memorial on 2,200 acres.

That’s right.  The government is planning on buying, with our money, 2,200 acres to build a memorial to airline passengers killed in a terrorist act.  I’m sure glad that my tax money is being spent wisely, aren’t you?  On top of that, they are going to FORCIBLY take the land if the rightful owners won’t sell.  Feeling better about your government now?

Rep. Barney Frank says excessive compensation packages for top corporate executives played a key role in the country’s financial crisis, and he wants to reign in that pay.

“I believe that the structure of compensation has been flawed,” the Massachusetts Democrat said while chairing a House Financial Services Committee hearing on Thursday.

Frank wants to develop guidelines for compensation practices, and not just for companies receiving government bailout dollars. Frank argues the problems is much wider.

Hmmm, now it seems that I’ve heard this somewhere before…

Essentially the facts still aren’t known about this case, yet America’s first black president chose to make racial comments about the case anyway.  He assumed that it was racial profiling and made his infamous remarks in a public venue.

This shows his on the job training isn’t going very well thus far; as if the economy wasn’t enough of an indicator of that.  President Obama needs to do what many people in the United States needs to do; get their race off their sleeve.

There are many more instances in America these days where being a member of a minority race will get you farther than your qualifications.  Just ask certain firefighters about that.   It seems that racism is ok as long as it’s against whites, huh?

The White House strategy of turning supporters into snitches when they see “fishy” information about the health care debate may run afoul of the law, legal experts say.

“The White House is in bit of a conundrum because of this privacy statute that prohibits the White House from collecting data and storing it on people who disagree with it,” Judge Andrew Napolitano, a FOX News analyst, said Friday.

“There’s also a statute that requires the White House to retain all communications that it receives. It can’t try to rewrite history by pretending it didn’t receive anything,” he said.

“If the White House deletes anything, it violates one statute. If the White House collects data on the free speech, it violates another statute.”

Napolitano was referring to the Privacy Act of 1974, which was passed after the Nixon administration used federal agencies to illegally investigate individuals for political purposes. Enacted after Richard Nixon’s resignation in the Watergate scandal, the statute generally prohibits any federal agency from maintaining records on individuals exercising their right to free speech.

This president more than any in history has feared and tried to squash dissent.  If you disagree, you are the enemy and are to be feared.  When will it become a crime to speak out against our great savior or should I say “Great Leader”?  only time will tell I suppose.  After he becomes our “Eternal President”?
